Am I Being Annoying? (Spoiler: You're Not)

Welcome to the inner monologue of nearly every tattoo client ever:

"I love this design... but what if I want to change the flower? Is that annoying?" "What if I talk too much? Or too little?" "Oh no, I just asked for another break. I am the problem."

Let me stop you right there: you are not annoying. You're human. You have to do human things. And you care. And as your tattoo artists, I promise you, we see you—and we appreciate your thoughtfulness way more than you realize. Trust me, sometimes we worry we are annoying you!

Tattooing Is Personal

Tattoos are permanent. Tattoos are intimate. Tattoos are raw expression. You should be in love with what you’re getting! Asking for tweaks, clarifications, or even redrawing a petal 3mm to the left is not annoying—it’s part of the collaboration. You're not hiring a robot; you're inviting an artist to co-create with you. That means input, questions, and yes—even second guesses—are totally valid.

Common "Annoying" Worries That Are Totally Not

1. Asking for Edits
Please. Ask. For. Edits. This is your body. I’d much rather tweak a design five times than have you walk away wishing you’d spoken up. We have tattoos on our own bodies that are unfortunately reminders of when a tattoo artist did not take the time and care to collaborate with us. We do NOT want you to feel the same. Our egos are not fragile—your comfort is what matters. It is OUR job to collaborate with you, support you, and communicate with you!

2. Needing Breaks
Need a break? Want to stretch? Bathroom calling? Literally just say the word. No one's judging. Tattooing can be intense and your body is not a machine. If we wanted to work on a canvas that doesn’t do human activities, we could just go home and paint. We enjoy working with our clients and serving you all. Everyone handles tattoos differently. Everyone has different needs, and your needs matter.

3. Being Chatty (or Quiet)
Some people talk the whole session. Some bring headphones and vibe in silence. Both are perfect. Your job is to do whatever helps you feel comfortable—not to entertain your artist. Also, if you need a silent session, please communicate that need. If talkestesia helps you, also communicate that need.

What We Actually Notice

You showing up prepared. You asking thoughtful questions. You bringing snacks or showing excitement. The energy you bring to the appointment affects the whole vibe—and most clients are kind, curious, and grateful. That’s what we notice.

What matters most is that you feel have a positive experience, feel heard, feel empowered, and feel seen. You can get cute or wear your sweats. You can laugh or you can cry (sometimes we may do both). You can sit like a rock, or need baby bird treatment. We want you to get to take time to be you.

TL;DR: You’re Not Annoying

If you're kind, communicative, and just trying to get a tattoo that feels right for you—you're a dream client. Keep doing you, boo.
